How to Change Your Facebook Default Language to Pirate

Affiliate Disclosure

pirate

Okay, okay. I know this is a day late for National Talk Like a Pirate Day. Believe me, I would have shared it with you yesterday had I known about it. But, I just learned about this tidbit of fun this morning, so bear with me! Thanks to my friend Erica K. who pointed this out to me!

It’s true. You can actually change the default language on your Facebook to PIRATE! So if you like to see terms (and perhaps even learn a few more) used by pirates on the high seas, proceed to the tutorial, me hearties.

Important Note: This tutorial is performed using the most up-to-date Facebook layout that I’m aware of. It is subject to change often and randomly as Facebook’s layout tends to do.

First and foremost, the duh bit: you must be logged in to Facebook.

1Click on the gear in the upper right-hand corner. Then navigate to “Account Settings.”

2Once in account settings, go to the “Language” section and click “Edit.”

3Open up the drop-down menu, scroll down a bit, and select “English (Pirate).” Save changes and voila! (Pssst…there’s also an option for “Upside Down” here).

4Here are some of the things it changes (click image to view larger).

5And a few more…

7…and even more. If you need to delete a post, select “T’ Davy Jones wit’ it!…”

And that be all, me hearties…arrr….

This is fluff. Adding more words. I need forty more. Now a bit less. Totally wish I’d known about this spiffy trick yesterday, ‘twould have been PERFECT for National Talk Like a Pirate Day. Oh well, too bad. At least it’s here now for all me hearties to enjoy now. Pretty spiffy. I like it! Don’t forget you’ll need to check out the upside-down language option Facebook has. That one’s not quite as cool as Pirate, though, but still pretty neat!
