Cocoa Syrup {or Homemade Chocolate Syrup}

  • 1/2 c. unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 c. maple syrup
  • 1/4 to 1/2 c. cold water
  • 1/4 tsp. Real Salt
  • 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract


  • In a small saucepan, whisk together the cocoa powder, maple syrup, water, and salt. Heat, whisking just about constantly, over medium heat until everything's thoroughly mixed together.
  • Remove from heat and mix in the vanilla.
  • Serve hot over ice cream or allow to cool to mix in chocolate milk. Or do with it whatever you would with chocolate syrup!
