One morning, Melissa Kieling was once again packing a lunch for each of her three kids. In an effort to prevent the apples from browning and the turkey sandwiches from spoiling, she stuffed each lunch bag with ice cubes. As she did so, she got to thinking that there had to be a better way to keep lunches cold without having to use space-consuming ice packs or toxic inserts.
As a result, she invented the innovative PackIt–a freezable, foldable lunch bag with built-in, eco-friendly gel liners that, when frozen, keep food cold for up to 10 hours.
Today, 3 years after Melissa’s initial light bulb moment, PackIt has become a familiar brand and continues to grow, expanding its product line beyond lunch bags.
I was pleasantly surprised at how much each cooler could hold. Since our boys are still little toddlers, one PackIt Personal Cooler is plenty big enough to hold enough food for both of them–including their tall sippy cups.
Once frozen, each cooler keeps food cold (including perishables like milk, yogurt, or meat) for up to 10 hours! That is ample time for my husband to take to work and not have to use the company fridge. I really wish I had one of these when I worked at Hobby Lobby (where there was no fridge) or Walmart (where our lunches often got stolen, lost, or thrown out) when I was single.
My husband really appreciates the spaciousness in his PackIt cooler. Besides just his main dish and a side or two, he is able to stow a beverage, a jar of homemade yogurt, and some fruit for his lunch.
I love that they keep cold for up to 10 hours! This is handy for saving money against eating out when the kiddos and I run errands (a big deal concerning we live deep in the country and all the big stores are at minimum an hour away). They’re also great for road trips.
I half expected these coolers to take up a lot of room in the freezer. But because they fold up neatly into a compact size, this is not the case. They all three take up one shelf on the door of the freezer and that is all!
I am very happy with our PackIt Personal Coolers. They are uber convenient, fun to look at and take a bunch of pictures of, and handy for on the go (no need to bring along extra coolers to stash your lunch bags)!
